11/29/04 - Jo Ann Davis, Member of Congress, calls for DOJ Investigation and Sec. Tom Ridge to personally intervene

Rep. Davis, R-VA, "shocked and appalled" at documents and WINK TV video victims' advocates recently showed her, called upon Attorney General John Ashcroft to "take every appropriate action" to investigate the policy sales, use of premiums and claims handling practices carried out by the NFIP, its contractors and business partners promptly.

Rep. Davis was even more troubled by the potential conflict of interest the advocates showed her regarding insurance industry lawyer Gerald Nielsen. She was also troubled by a letter received from a former Presidential appointee and Texas Insurance Commissioner's conclusion "fraud may have occurred on a large scale" within the National Flood Insurance Program.

Rep. Davis also called upon DHS Secretary Tom Ridge to personally intervene on behalf of the victims.
