NFIP's Congressional Committee Chair gets 30-months in jail

Former Ohio Republican Representative Bob Ney, the only member of Congress to be criminally charged in the Jack Abramoff-lobbying scandal, was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Ney had chaired the House subcommittee which held hearings into problems within FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program.

Ney's subcommittee failed to act upon the problems brought to its attention in the wake of Hurricane Isabel and Katrina.
